KitchenAid Artisan 5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer: An Epitome of Culinary Craftsmanship

The KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer is the Most Iconic Kitchen Appliance Around

The KitchenAid Artisan 5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer is the most iconic kitchen appliance around and by far KitchenAid’s most popular stand mixer. Packed with a whopping 325 watts of power, the mixer is able to make recipes calling for up to 9 cups of flour without slowing down.

The mixer does have a failsafe in the form of a single nylon gear that will strip itself before burning out the motor in the event of the mixer being overloaded. Replacing this gear is more cost-effective than replacing the entire motor.

The tilt-head design gives the KitchenAid Artisan mixer the ability to fit and operate underneath standard-sized cabinets, being only 18″ tall with the head tilted up and 14.5″ tall with the head down and locked.

All Colors of the Rainbow

The KitchenAid Artisan Mixer differences are primarily in the color options, finishes and bowls, and accessories that are included with them. The KSM150 KitchenAid Artisan comes in a wide range of colors – over 32 actually which makes it the mixer with the most color options of any model of KitchenAid’s mixers.

The KitchenAid Artisan Mixer comes standard with a 5 qt stainless steel bowl, a coated flat beater, wire whip, dough hook, and pouring shield.

The Custom Metallic Series Mixers are definitely the higher end of the Artisan models line in regards to the price tag. These mixers come with all the same accessories as the standard Artisan KSM150 Mixer with the 5 qt stainless steel bowl, coated beater, wire whip, coated dough hook, and pouring shield.

How Much Will a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer Cost Me?

The Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer is an expensive mixer but it is well worth it. I had my first Kitchen Aid for 40 years without a single issue and the only reason I replaced it was that when I moved it came up missing when the movers delivered our household goods.

The amount you will save on buying cheap mixers will become more expensive in the long run because you will have to replace the cheap ones more than once in 40 years. The durability is what justifies the cost of $450.

The high-end metal finishes, available in brushed nickel, chrome, and satin copper, have an even higher price but they are absolutely stunning. These mixers can make a bold statement in any kitchen.

SUMMARY

I have owned a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer for 40 years now. My original was in a box that came up missing when I moved to Phoenix so I had to buy another one because nothing else compared. At first, I just bought a hand mixer but it died within a few months. Then I bought a no-name stand mixer that died within the first year. So I went back to the store in 2019 and bought the one featured in this review. 40 years without a single problem from Kitchen Aid is good enough for me! So I give it 2 thumbs up and 5 stars
